Project Manager Turned Health Coach

After almost a decade of working in the tech world, I’m transitioning from project manager to health coach to help others get unstuck and make meaningful changes to improve their wellbeing. I’m currently training to become a certified Health Coach through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (Aug 2024), and I have a special interest in women’s health.

In a past life, I was known as a strategic operator known for my ability to bring teams together to collaborate, communicate, and deliver programs that enabled 1000+ employees to thrive. The move from operations to health coaching at first felt like a bit of a leap until I realized one thing: both are ultimately focused on empowering others to show up and do the work. They involve things I love like:

  • Establishing meaningful relationships that are built on mutual trust and respect

  • Spotting strengths and understanding how to leverage them

  • Crafting a vision of where we are going and why

  • Setting realistic goals that take into account history, constraints, and challenges

Director of People Project Management @ Etsy
2014 - 2023 | Brooklyn, NY

Over the course of nine years, I went from Internal Comms Intern to Director of HR Project Management, focused on enabling communication, collaboration, and connection. It was a period of tremendous growth and change at the company (an IPO, multiple acquisitions, a couple rounds of layoffs, major hiring sprints, a new executive team, COVID-19, and then some). Even with all the change, Etsy was consistently listed as a Best Place to Work in the US, had a highly engaged workforce, and low attrition compared to benchmark. It was a wild and wonderful ride, and I got to work on some pretty special projects with some special people to build a fantastic culture. Some of my proudest moments include:

  • Codifying company values, expectations, & norms | I had the privilege to work on a number of initiatives in partnership with senior leadership to guide behavior and decision-making at all levels of the company. This work included establishing company values, redesigning our HR handbooks for employees and contractors, and developing evolving guidance and policies during the COVID-19 crisis and the transition to hybrid working.

  • Designing programs that empowered employees to perform their best | I was able to play a key role in many aspects of the employee experience, including redesigning our employee onboarding experience, rolling out our company goal setting process, and implementing programs to recognize and reward our employees, including annual performance & compensation reviews, our bi-annual promotion cycle, and quarterly development check-ins.

  • Keeping teams connected and aligned | A major focus throughout my tenure was keeping folks in the loop and in sync, at the company and team level. This involved facilitating company meetings of 800+ employees, as well as crafting all-company newsletters and emails. I was also responsible for launching key tools for information sharing and communication across the company, including our employee intranet and Slack.
